On July 2, the 2025 Shanghai Science and Technology Awards were announced. Our college won two Shanghai Science and Technology Awards.
The project "Key Technologies and Applications for Risk Prevention and Resilience Enhancement of Safe Water Supply in Megacities" by Professor Xu Bin's team won the First Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. The project overcame key technologies for water quality risk early warning, multi-barrier prevention and control, and emergency dispatch in megacity water supply systems, achieving domestic online monitoring and early warning for saltwater intrusion, odor, and heavy metals in source water, as well as rapid diagnosis of pipeline corrosion. It created collaborative multi-barrier prevention and control technologies from source to network, solving challenges in reservoir freshwater storage for saltwater avoidance and algae control, and coordinated water quality control between plants and networks. It also built a second-level simulation and intelligent dispatch system for raw and clean water systems, significantly enhancing the system's emergency response capacity and seamless switching capability. The results have been applied in Shanghai, Wuhan, Hong Kong, and other cities, serving a water supply scale of 15.55 million tons per day and a population of 32 million, significantly improving the safety and system resilience of water supply in Chinese megacities.
The project "Key Technologies and Applications for Improving Water Environment Quality of Urban Rivers" by Professor Ye Jianfeng's team won the Second Prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. Targeting issues such as recurring black and odorous urban rivers and difficulty in maintaining and improving water quality, the project pioneered high organic flux trench sediment precise positioning and quantification technology, established a spectrum analysis method for long-term rainfall runoff and its pollution load, developed river pollution diagnosis technology based on specific molecular group tracking, constructed modular application technology for urban river water ecological restoration, developed complete sets of equipment for automatic desilting in pump station forebays with water, and formulated the first national pump station supervision regulations and multiple government guidance documents, achieving nationwide scaled application of "pipe network-outfall-river."
