On March 5, 2025, the first plenary meeting of the new Academic Committee of CESE was successfully convened. The meeting was chaired by Academician Xu Zuxin, Chair of the Academic Committee, with Dean Wang Zhiwei, Xu Bin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, and all other committee members in attendance.
At the outset of the meeting, a solemn yet concise certificate awarding ceremony was held. Xu Bin and Wang Zhiwei of the college presented the appointment certificate for the Chair of the Academic Committee to Academician Xu Zuxin. Subsequently, Academician Xu Zuxin issued appointment certificates to the Vice Chairs and members of the new Academic Committee, officially initiating the work of the new committee.
Vice Dean Zheng Xiong delivered a special report on the preparation of the college's "15th Five-Year Plan," outlining the completion status of core development indicators during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period and presenting the ideas and plans for formulating the "15th Five-Year Plan." The Academic Committee actively offered insights and suggestions, providing valuable opinions on the plan's direction, indicator setting, and disciplinary development.
Vice Dean Wang Ying introduced the progress in establishing the college's international journal, Energy & Environmental Sustainability. The Academic Committee engaged in in-depth discussions on enhancing the journal's influence, policy support, and incentive measures to comprehensively elevate its academic standards and international recognition.
Liu Jia, Deputy Director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, reported on the progress of revising the college's talent cultivation programs. The Academic Committee engaged in extensive exchanges on reforming talent cultivation models, optimizing curriculum settings, and introducing social practice courses, offering constructive opinions and suggestions.
In his concluding remarks, Academician Xu Zuxin emphasized that the Academic Committee should fully leverage its role in academic consultation, providing constructive advice and suggestions for the college's disciplinary development, talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and international cooperation. He also underscored the significance of formulating the "15th Five-Year Plan," building an international journal, and reforming talent cultivation. Dean Wang Zhiwei stated that the college would fully harness the role of the Academic Committee in academic governance, fostering consensus, integrating advantageous resources, and striving to advance all tasks of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering.
