On April 10, 2025, the College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) successfully held the election meeting for the renewal of its Young Teachers' Association. The event was attended by college leaders including Party Secretary Xu Bin, Dean Wang Zhiwei, and Vice Dean Zhou Shangjiu, alongside more than 40 young faculty members.
In his opening address, Dean Wang Zhiwei praised the achievements of the association over recent years and reaffirmed the crucial role those young teachers play as the driving force behind the college's growth and innovation. He encouraged continued dedication to academic excellence and collaborative engagement among early-career faculty.
Following the dean's remarks, Professor Mao Shun, the outgoing president of the association, gave a detailed overview of the organization’s activities and accomplishments. He highlighted the diverse academic, professional development, and community-building events organized under the association's leadership, providing a solid foundation for the next chapter of growth and renewal.

Through democratic recommendations and on-site voting, the election meeting concluded with the unanimous establishment of a new council for the Young Teachers' Association. Professor Chu Huaqiang was appointed as the new president, marking the beginning of a fresh term of leadership and collaboration.
Representing the newly formed council, Professor Chu outlined the association’s work plan for 2025, emphasizing continued support for young faculty development, fostering academic exchange, and strengthening cohesion among young teachers. His plan also focused on promoting innovative teaching and research initiatives aligned with the college's broader mission.
Deputy Party Secretary Zhou Shangjiu delivered a guiding speech, affirming the college's commitment to supporting the association. He expressed his intention to encourage joint organization of various events in collaboration with the college’s trade union, aiming to enhance the engagement, professional growth, and sense of community among young teachers at CESE.

Finally, Xu Bin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, officially announced the establishment of the new Young Teachers' Association and delivered a concluding speech. He expressed high expectations for the association’s future development, emphasizing that it should actively integrate into the college’s overall growth. Xu Bin encouraged the association to inject fresh momentum into discipline construction and talent cultivation, establish a diverse platform of activities tailored to the needs of young teachers, and elevate the college’s youth work to new heights. He highlighted the importance of the association in showcasing the mission and innovative vitality of Tongji environmental professionals.
