From January 10 to 11, 2024, a delegation from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, visited the College of Environmental Science and Engineering to discuss the establishment of the Sino-German Environment Center. Oliver Schmidt, Director of the International Cooperation Office at KIT, introduced the disciplinary framework of environmental-related departments at KIT and collaborative plans with Tongji University. Tongji University's Director Yin Wen and Professors Wang Zhiwei, Wang Ying, and Dai Xiaohu discussed the Sino-German Environment Center's development vision, cooperation orientations, concrete measures, and implementation strategies. Cai Liming, Vice Dean of the Sino-German College, and Liu Fang, Vice Dean of the School of Civil Engineering, introduced cooperative support schemes for establishing the Sino-German Environment Center.
In terms of research collaboration, they explored future cooperative research plans and programs for talent development. The KIT delegation also visited German companies in China, such as Covestro, Adidas, and Bosch, where they exchanged ideas on university-industry collaborative research and professional talent cultivation.
