Facing the major R&D needs of " Pollution Prevention and Control of watershed " (led by Academician Xu Zuxin), research is focusing on:

1. Efficient control on pollution discharged from urban drainage network in weather days (integrated physical and chemical methods)

2. Efficient separation and recovery of ammonia nitrogen/phosphorus with low concentration in water (design, synthesis and mechanism of nano and porous materials);

3. Selective oxidation of micro-pollutants in water (heterogeneous photo-assisted Fenton and catalytic ozone advanced oxidation);

4. Watershed/regional water ecological environment planning and management
