Students from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering Conduct Summer Practice and Study Tours in Germany and Italy

In July, faculty and student teams from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering traveled to Germany and Italy for overseas study tours focused on urban sustainable development and water environment management. In Berlin, Germany, the study tour centered on the theme of "Environmental Systems Thinking and Urban Sustainability," integrating the application of mathematical tools and artificial intelligence in environmental issues. Through intensive coursework and visits to top institutions such as the Technical University of Berlin and Humboldt University, students broadened their understanding of smart cities and sustainable design. In Italy, the team traced the thread of water treatment technology, visiting cities such as Rome, Turin, and Florence, comparing classical hydraulic engineering wisdom with cutting-edge processes such as modern membrane water treatment and water quality testing. They also conducted field visits to local wastewater treatment plants to gain in-depth understanding of resource recycling models, deepening their comprehension of differences in environmental governance between China and Europe through cross-cultural comparison. This overseas summer practice extended the classroom to international academic frontiers and engineering frontlines, emphasizing the fusion of Chinese and international perspectives, guiding students to expand their global vision while pursuing professional studies, and responding to the era's call for ecological civilization construction with a more open outlook.
