Tongji University's "Building Water Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa" Project Selected into UNESCO's "Science Decade" Program

Recently, UNESCO sent a congratulatory letter and confirmation notice that the project "Building Water Resilience in Sub-Saharan Africa: Integrated Approaches to Safe Water Supply, Pollution Control, and Capacity Development," led by the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), was successfully included in the third batch of recognized projects under the United Nations International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD, 2024–2033). This marks the second time a project led by our institute has been selected, demonstrating its profound expertise and international influence in South-South environmental cooperation and global sustainable development.

The United Nations International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033) was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on August 25, 2023, with UNESCO designated as the lead implementing agency. Its goal is to promote the translation of scientific knowledge and innovative achievements into practical actions to address global challenges, providing robust support for the implementation of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
