On July 27, the 2026 Yangtze River Delta Eco-Green Integrated Development Demonstration Zone Developers Conference was held in Shanghai. Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the CPC, attended and delivered a speech. Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Shanghai, presented the certificate to Tongji University as the new rotating executive lead unit. Zheng Qinghua, Secretary of the CPC Tongji University Committee and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, introduced the work of the Developers Alliance at the conference.
The College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) at Tongji University serves as the secretariat of the Developers Alliance and actively participates in alliance development through the Yangtze River Delta Sustainable Development Research Institute, a university-level platform hosted by the college. At the conference, the "Yangtze River Delta Integrated Demonstration Zone National Carbon Peak Pilot Innovation Practice Project," led by the college, was selected as one of the top ten outstanding practice cases of the year. Concurrently, the "Pooling Innovation Sources, Coordinating Cross-Regional Development" thematic seminar, co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Water Pollution Control and Green Resource Recycling and the Demonstration Zone Developers Alliance, was held, with Wang Zhiwei, Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, in attendance.
Moving forward, the college will leverage its disciplinary and think tank advantages, capitalize on the opportunity of establishing a national key laboratory platform in the demonstration zone, and deepen industry-university-research collaboration around cross-regional institutional innovation and green technology breakthroughs, empowering the eco-green integrated high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta.
