Liu Run, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University, Meets with Ms. Susan Gardner, Director of UNEP Ecosystems Division

On June 12, 2026, Liu Run, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Tongji University, met with Ms. Susan Gardner, Director of the Ecosystems Division of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and her entourage. Relevant officials from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), the Sino-Italian College of Engineering and Innovation, and the Foreign Affairs Office attended the meeting.

Director Gardner stated that UNEP attaches great importance to its partnership with Tongji University, and is willing to further expand cooperation areas on the existing solid foundation, especially strengthening synergy in supporting young talents to participate in global environmental governance. She looks forward to the two sides working together to contribute more wisdom and strength to global sustainable development.

Deputy Secretary Liu Run put forward constructive suggestions for deepening future cooperation. He hoped to further expand joint research directions with the UNEP Ecosystems Division, open up more channels for students to intern at UNEP, and jointly enhance the international influence of the International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability.
