CESE Holds the 2025 Freshmen Welcome Assembly and the First Lesson for New Students

On September 16, 2025, CESE held the 2025 Freshmen Welcome Assembly and the First Lesson for new students, bringing together hundreds of faculty members and students. Xu Bin, Chairman of CESE Committee, encouraged the freshmen to uphold the spirit of scientific inquiry and innovation, and to grow into practitioners, innovators, and leaders in ecological civilization and global environmental governance.

Professor Duan Ning, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, shared valuable insights on personal growth and teamwork, drawing on his own experiences. The assembly also featured a welcome ceremony with strong environmental themes: as the new students picked up their mobile phones and “shook” them, a lush “environmental tree” rose virtually from the ground amid cheers—symbolizing the beginning of their journey in environmental studies.
