On January 17, 2025, the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Tongji University convened a special meeting on the deployment and guidance for the application of the 2025 National Natural Science Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "NSFC") to further mobilize and organize the fund application efforts. Xu Bin, Secretary of the College Party Committee, and Dean Wang Zhiwei attended the meeting, which was chaired by Vice Dean Zheng Xiong, with over 60 faculty members and postdoctoral researchers participating.
Xu Bin underscored the significance of the NSFC in advancing personal career development and enhancing academic capabilities, and offered three key pieces of advice: maintaining confidence, attaching great importance to proposal writing, and strengthening communication and exchange. Vice Dean Zheng Xiong reviewed the college's achievements in NSFC applications in 2024 and emphasized the importance of the NSFC and the requirements for the work.
Dean Wang Zhiwei further mobilized and organized the fund application efforts, urging faculty members and postdoctoral researchers to approach the application process with diligence. He delivered a guidance report on NSFC proposal writing, titled "How to Refine and Distill Key Scientific Questions." He highlighted the importance of distilling scientific questions, providing detailed explanations and in-depth analyses through practical examples, while also reminding attendees of some considerations in project applications.
