On March 7, 2025, a delegation from the Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center, led by Director Duan Xiaoyang and Deputy Director Zhou Yuanyuan, visited the College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) at Tongji University to conduct research and provide guidance on advancing international cooperation efforts. The meeting was attended by Dean Wang Zhiwei, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee Zhou Shangjiu, Vice Dean Wang Ying, and relevant representatives from the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development and the college's administrative office.
Dean Wang Zhiwei warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed sincere appreciation for the continued support from the Exchange Centre toward CESE’s internationalization endeavors, especially through its collaboration with the UNEP-Tongji Institute. He provided an overview of the college’s recent achievements in expanding international platforms, fostering global talent, advancing international student education, and facilitating international research collaborations.
Director Duan Xiaoyang affirmed the purpose of the visit was to deepen strategic cooperation between the Exchange Centre and CESE. He recognized Tongji University’s significant contributions to international sustainable development, especially through the Belt and Road Initiative and South-South Cooperation. Duan highlighted Tongji’s extensive international collaboration experience and expressed enthusiasm for future joint efforts in building a new model of international cooperation in environmental and sustainable development under the Belt and Road framework.
Vice Dean Wang Ying elaborated on CESE’s internationalization milestones, including its strategic partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme. She outlined the college’s talent development model for global environmental governance and shared case studies of green technology training programs for Belt and Road countries.
The meeting concluded with productive discussions on deepening collaboration, aiming to jointly promote innovative international cooperation mechanisms in the field of environmental and sustainable development.
