From April 16 to 19, 2025, the national finals of the 2nd National College Students Career Planning Competition were held in Changsha, Hunan Province. With the theme “Building Dreams in Youth, Aiming Far and Wide; Planning for Launch, Guiding Careers for the Future,” the competition was co-hosted by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Hunan Province. It aimed to guide students in formulating rational academic and career plans, shaping a correct employment outlook, and enhancing their overall qualities and employability.
Among the 15.07 million participants from 2,763 colleges and universities across the country, over 750 outstanding students advanced to the national finals after intense preliminary rounds. Tang Yuhan, an undergraduate student from the Class of 2022 majoring in Environmental Engineering at the College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE), Tongji University, stood out in the Growth Track of the Higher Education Group and was awarded the National Silver Award.
As a youth environmental advocate in the new era, Tang Yuhan is committed to addressing climate change by leveraging the power of policy and role models. At Tongji University, she found a supportive environment to pursue her aspirations. The university’s focus on interdisciplinary talent development, together with CESE’s A+ discipline advantage, fostered her capacity for cross-disciplinary thinking. Her engagement in scientific research projects and academic competitions strengthened her professional foundation, while hands-on internships deepened her understanding of the practical application of knowledge. Looking ahead, she plans to continue applying interdisciplinary approaches to address complex global challenges and contribute Chinese wisdom to climate governance.
CESE has always prioritized career development education, offering diverse employment guidance and comprehensive support for students' career planning. Taking the career planning competition as an opportunity, CESE has effectively integrated the event with career development courses, on-campus recruitment initiatives, and talent-matching efforts between universities and enterprises. This integrated approach promotes a virtuous cycle of learning, teaching, and employment through competition.
