On May 29, 2025, Gao Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of Shanghai Chengtou Water (Group) Co., Ltd., along with Chen Guang, Deputy General Manager; Zuo Ning, Head of the Party Organization Department; and Luo Jiachen, Deputy Head of the Party Organization Department, visited the College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) for discussions and exchanges on school-enterprise cooperation. The delegation was warmly received by Xu Bin, Secretary of the College Party Committee; Wang Zhiwei, Dean of the College; Lu Lijun, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee; and Liu Jia, Deputy Director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. Also present were Zhou Junhe, Vice Dean of the Undergraduate School and Director of the Admissions Office at Tongji University, and Fang Yu, Head of Teaching in the Computer Science Department at the School of Computer Science and Technology. The meeting was hosted by Lu Lijun.
During the meeting, Secretary Gao Wei outlined the purpose of the visit, expressing a strong interest in deepening cooperation with CESE in areas such as graduate recruitment, outstanding engineer training, development of internship and practice bases, and joint technological innovation in the reform of Shanghai’s drainage systems. He emphasized the goal of achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
Dean Wang Zhiwei provided an overview of CESE’s latest developments, while Deputy General Manager Chen Guang introduced the core businesses and current strategic focus of Chengtou Water Group. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on multiple areas, including talent cultivation, business collaboration, the application of artificial intelligence in water supply and drainage systems, and the training of interdisciplinary engineers.
Both Secretary Gao Wei and Deputy General Manager Chen Guang expressed strong interest in CESE’s dual-degree programs “Environmental Engineering + Mathematics and Applied Mathematics” and “Environmental Science + Accounting” launched in recent years. They noted that these programs closely align with the group’s growing demand for interdisciplinary talent and expressed willingness to offer students in these programs internship, practical training, and employment opportunities.
This exchange marks the beginning of a new chapter of in-depth collaboration between the school and enterprise. Both parties are committed to advancing substantive cooperation, aiming for mutual empowerment and shared development.
