On November 30, 2024, the periodic evaluation meeting for Tongji University's doctoral program in Environmental Science and Engineering was held on campus.
The evaluation expert panel included more than 30 prominent experts, such as Professor Huang Tinglin from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Professor Gao Huiwang from Ocean University of China, Professor Cui Baoshan from Beijing Normal University, and Professor Dai Xiaohu from Tongji University. Dean Wang Zhiwei delivered a comprehensive report on the program's achievements since 2020, highlighting its distinctive approach to talent cultivation, contributions to society, and future development plans while also addressing existing challenges.
After reviewing the report, listening to the presentation, and engaging in discussions, the expert panel commended the program for its remarkable accomplishments. They noted its strong faculty team, scientifically designed curriculum, outstanding research capabilities, and extensive international collaborations. The panel unanimously approved the evaluation while recommending that the program further refine its research focus and define quantifiable indicators to highlight its unique characteristics.
Over more than two decades of development, Tongji University's doctoral program in Environmental Science and Engineering has established a comprehensive, well-structured, balanced, and distinctive high-level talent cultivation system. Looking ahead, the program aims to continue its self-improvement efforts, enhance the quality of talent training, and make even greater contributions to China's ecological civilization and global sustainable development.
