On July 19, 2023, the “Talent Training and Industry-University-Research Cooperation Base” jointly established by the College of Environmental Science and Engineering of Tongji University and the Forensic Science Research Institute (referred to as the “Forensic Institute”) was unveiled at the Forensic Institute.
Professor Xu Bin, Chairman of the College, pointed out that the College, in accordance with the talent training ideas proposed by Tongji, focuses on the forefront of environmental science and national strategic needs and continuously improves the quality of talent training. The judicial appraisal of environmental damage is mainly based on the two disciplines of environment and law and has become an important direction in the future development of the field of environmental science. This is also an important way to implement precise, scientific, and legal pollution control. It is hoped that the two sides will further strengthen top-level planning, deepen cooperation in scientific research, discipline construction, standard setting, judicial appraisal business, and talent training, build a “combination punch” of rule of law, market, technology, and policy, and help build a beautiful China.
On the day of the unveiling ceremony, more than 30 students from the Department of Environmental Science carried out summer practice activities at the Forensic Institute. They visited laboratories such as environmental damage judicial appraisal, electronic data appraisal, and road traffic accident technical appraisal, deeply understood the content and methods of ecological environment damage appraisal, and deeply understood the important significance of “defending justice with science”.
