College of Environmental Science and Engineering, relying on its own discipline advantages of the takes active participation in the environmental governance across the nation. By cooperating with  the People’s Government of  Yancheng Municipal, CESE established Jiangsu Yancheng Environmental Protection Industrial Research and Development Service Center, constructed a science research platform consisting of environmental pollution abatement technology research, product development, equipment production, and polluted water abating system technical service. Through international communication and collaboration network, CESE established cooperative research relationship with Germany, France and more countries. The establishment of this center, served the local economy, promoted the development of environmental enterprise, and play an important role in pushing forward local environment protection.

CESE actively participate various important events, and then enhance the spread of the idea of protecting ecosystem and environment. During the EXPO 2010, comprehensive utilization of rainwater, waste recycling and direct drinking water technology was put into use, the engineering level of these technology was highly commented by international society. In the meantime, the idea of environmental protection was planted into the mind of thousands of visitors.

Shanghai Tongji Clearon Environmental-Protection Equipment Engineering co,Ltd., a subsidiary of CESE, used the advantage Tongji University’s technology, human resources, information resources, and other intangible assets, make full use of forthcoming fund, qualification, equipment and management ability, play an active role in the control of waste water, exhaust gas, and solid waste, make a contribution to the development of China’s environment protection industrial and the improvement of environmental situation.

The students of CESE under the guidance of teachers, make good use of discipline advantages, actively carry out all kinds of volunteer work for community. Our students cooperated with the Siping community, Quyang Community and Tieling street community, carried out all kinds of environment related propaganda work, as well as helping the publicity and education work about disaster prevention. Greenroad association, a student association of CESE has kept on carried out environmental course in Tongji primary school and Quyang primary school for years, those courses was highly praised by the teachers and students. The students of CESE make use of the chance of summer social practice to walk out university, by the means of field survey, in-situ observation and other method, give suggestions and measures for the object.

CESE’s “green hiker” volunteer service team and charity volunteer team carry out voluntary work for environmental protection and public welfare, including volunteers caring the elders in nursing home, volunteer narrators in Shanghai Luxun Museum, volunteers in Shanghai Library, volunteers in Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, volunteer teachers in surrounding primary and secondary schools, except these volunteers, there are low carbon classroom ,home doctor activity, which are facing the community resident and the special group oriented Sunshine Home volunteer activities. By combining the weekends practice activities, the volunteer service team developed the “green ecology savings bank” scientific shop project with Siping road community.
