A novel study by Professor Yayi Wang’s team has recently been published in Nature Sustainability. They propose a nitrate-driven in situ oxidation approach to upcycle sewage sludge into anammox seeds and successfully achieving rapid cultivation of anammox seeds (<90 days). This approach offers an efficient and economical pathway for rapid cultivation of anammox sludge, significantly advancing sludge recycling and low-carbon, high-efficiency nitrogen removal. Their work contributes to the synergistic reduction of pollution and carbon emissions in the wastewater treatment industry.
