On April 22, 2025, the first event of the "One Meeting, One Product" initiative was successfully held by the Young Teachers' Association, the Labor Union, and the Academic Affairs Management Office of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE). This activity aims to support the professional development of young teachers. Associate Professor Zhou Zhengyu from the School of Marine Sciences was specially invited to deliver a teaching-themed lecture titled "Pursuing Dreams in the Ocean of Teaching, with Years Like a Melodious Song."
The event was chaired by Professor Chu Huaqiang, President of the Young Teachers' Association, and attended by Teacher Zhou Shangjiu, Deputy Secretary of the College Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Committee, Professor Liu Jia, Deputy Director of the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centre, along with over 30 teachers.
During his talk, Professor Zhou shared over a decade of teaching insights, offering reflections on his journey and innovative educational practices rooted in a student-cantered philosophy. Drawing from his own expertise, he introduced the use of "jade culture" in classroom settings, which helps students strengthen their cultural identity through an appreciation of traditional values. He also discussed strategies to link interdisciplinary courses, encouraging students to develop broader, cross-domain thinking abilities in alignment with the educational goal of nurturing socially responsible and professionally skilled individuals.
Professor Zhou emphasized team building and the development of practical teaching resources, advocating the use of knowledge graph technology to restructure curriculum systems and enhance the logical flow of information. This approach aims to strengthen the integration of theory and practice. He also encouraged the continuous update of classroom materials such as PowerPoint presentations and suggested that teachers regularly refine their teaching tools to maintain an engaging and effective classroom experience.
Looking forward, CESE's Young Teachers' Association plans to continue hosting diverse exchange platforms and enrichment activities to further support the academic growth, professional networking, and cultural life of young faculty members.
