On October 24, 2024, the 2024 Tongji University International Young Scholars Forum (Environmental Science Sub-Forum) was successfully held in Shanghai. The forum attracted over 30 experts, young scholars, and student representatives from the United States, the Netherlands, Denmark, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and domestic universities and research institutes. The event featured sessions on Tongji University's talent policies and presentations by ten outstanding young scholars. The Party and administrative leadership, department and platform heads, and faculty and student representatives from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering also participated in the forum.
Vice Dean Zheng Xiong provided an overview of the development history and vision of Tongji University's environmental disciplines. He highlighted the various talent recruitment programs at the national, Shanghai municipal, and university levels. Zheng gave a detailed explanation of application requirements, processes, and support policies, helping attendees better understand the application procedures for these programs. He encouraged participants to actively apply for faculty positions in the college, assuring them of comprehensive and enthusiastic support for talent services.
During the academic presentations, ten outstanding young scholars from China and abroad showcased their cutting-edge research in the field of environmental science. These presentations sparked lively academic discussions and mutual inspiration among the young scholars and faculty representatives.
Professor Xia Siqing, Chief Scientist of a National Key Research and Development Program and a faculty representative, delivered a concluding speech. He expressed gratitude to the domestic and international scholars for their enthusiastic participation and warmly invited them to join Tongji University's College of Environmental Science and Engineering. Professor Xia emphasized that young scholars should seize opportunities, innovate boldly, and commit to diligent research to achieve significant outcomes. He expressed confidence that, guided by and supported by national strategic needs, young scholars would make remarkable achievements in the near future.
