On May 31, 2024, Associate Professor Yu Zhenyang from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Tongji University, and Deputy Director of the Jiaxing Tongji Institute of Environment, was honoured with the title of "Most Outstanding Science and Technology Worker" in 2024. This prestigious recognition, organized by the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, underwent a rigorous selection process involving nominations, qualification reviews, and expert evaluations. Ultimately, 23 exemplary individuals from the field of ecological and environmental science were selected.

Over the past three years, Professor Yu Zhenyang has organized more than 30 science popularization lectures on topics such as environmental health, engaging faculty members from the college. These activities have directly benefited over 5,000 students from more than ten primary and secondary schools. Additionally, Professor Yu has published over 20 articles addressing subjects like pollutant toxicity effects, ecosystem development patterns, water quality standards, carbon reduction, wetland functions, and the health impacts of environmental pollutants. These articles have garnered more than 2,500 online views. Furthermore, the science popularization base has received nearly 20,000 visitors to date.
Looking ahead, the college will continue to uphold the principle of "integrating research and science popularization with shared goals and aligned efforts," contributing to the sustained advancement of ecological and environmental protection in China.
