In July 2014, teacher Zhu Haochen from the Department of Environmental Science of our college was invited to attend the 10th International Conference on Membranes and Membrane Processes (ICOM2014) and won the 2014 ICOM Youth Academic Award. Gao Congyi and Hou Lian, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Bart Van Der Bruggen, president of European Membrane Association, Prof. Beuscher, chairman of North American Membrane Association, and nearly 1000 scholars in membrane science and engineering from universities and research institutes around the world participated in the triennial event.
The ICOM Youth Academic Award was established by the European Membrane Association for the first time this year. It aims to encourage and support young scientists who have achieved good academic achievements or have great development potential in the field of membrane science and engineering. There are two places this year.
Dr. Zhu Haochen graduated from Rennes University in 2011. In 2012, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Ecole Centrale de France and came to the Department of Environmental Sciences of the School of Environment at the end of the same year. Since his doctoral stage, Zhu Haochen has mainly studied the simulation of the transport process of porous media, the study of electrochemical properties of charged solids, and the process of membrane treatment. As the first and corresponding author, Dr. Zhu Haochen published dozens of SCI papers in internationally renowned journals in different fields, including one in Journal of membrane science, one of the top journals in the field of membrane science, and two in Physical Review Letters, one of the top journals in the field of membrane science.
