On September 9th, 2016, United Nations Environment Program, Beijing Capital International Airport Corporation and Tongji University jointly launched the "call for life" global environmental protection exhibition, green airport planning project launch ceremony at the capital airport terminal 3. UN Under-Secretary-General, the United Nations Environment Program Executive Director Eric Solheim, UNEP goodwill ambassador Ms. Li Bingbing, manager of capital airport joint-stock company Han Zhiliang, Executive Vice President of Tongji University Wu Jiang, Deputy Director of the State Forestry Administration of wildlife conservation and Nature Reserve Management Division Jia Jiansheng, UNEP Country Coordinator Zhang Shigang attended the event.
The concept of "Environmental Airport" was jointly put forward by the United Nations Environment Program and the capital airport corporation in 2015, and both sides attached great importance to the important gateway window of the airport. UNEP, with the environmental and sustainable development of the Institute of experts in Tongji together to form a team of experts to provide technical support for the airport's Environmental Airport special planning. At the end of August ,2016, the "Environmental Airport Beijing Capital Airport opening report" 13th Five-Year "special plan project" will be held under the support of the United Nations Environment Programme and the Tongji University. The three party all agreed to focus on sustainable development, the comprehensive influence of the economic, social and environmental assessment of capital airport, and to develop environmental airport planning proposal system for the capital airport, to promote environmental development of environmental transformation and related industries in the area.
The illegal wildlife trade has become a global problem, threatening the elephants, rhinoceros, tigers, pangolins, turtles and wood roses, and all endangered species lives. # Call for life # movement appeals to the public to search their soul species, to use their influence to promote an end to the illegal trade. Till now, millions of people have been involved. This year is the third year of the cooperation between Beijing Capital International Airport and UNEP. Beijing Capital International Airport has set nearly 60 panels and more than 400 electronic screens for this exhibition, looping calls for short films, remind the domestic and international tourists to the gravity of the current illegal trade in wild fauna and flora. Beijing Capital International Airport is the world's second busiest airport, so the starting ceremony attracted the attention of many visitors.
#Call for Life# movement was jointly organized by the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Office on drugs and crime "and the international trade in endangered species Convention, for the purpose of mobilizing millions of people to make a commitment to take action to end the illegal trade.
